From Monday 26 to Friday 30 August, the young professed sisters of West Africa met in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso) for their annual session on the following theme: The ethics of care in the life and work of our founding sisters.
On the first day, through the theme: the means of communication, risks and opportunities, Brother Geoges Syan, from the Congregation of the Holy Family, helped us to see the risks in our use of the means of telecommunication such as the telephone, the computer... We were challenged as religious to watch our presence on the web so as to be able to announce the essential message of Christ in everything we do.
On the second day, we worked on the ‘Founding Writings’, sharing the results of our group work. It was an enriching moment, as we travelled with our foundresses along the road from Spain to Safané, seeing the difficulties of the foundation. We saw that, despite these difficulties - their precarious state of health, limited pastoral resources and difficult climate - they held on because they benefited from God's presence and had the support of the Congregation. This shows us that consolation is possible with what we are and what we have.
On Thursday, we went to the National Museum to discover our cultural heritage. In the evening, we supported the victims of the terrorist attack in Barsalgo with a time of adoration.
To get to know each other better, each evening we shared the vocational journey of each of us. We ended the session with recommendations from Mother Vice. We thanked God for this opportunity and we thanked the whole congregation for this space created especially for us. We wished each other a good practice of all that we had received, hoping to meet again next year.
