With great joy and gratitude, we, the Sisters of Consolation, have celebrated the 150th anniversary of our arrival in Benicarló on February 1, 1876. To give thanks for this long shared journey, the Nuestra Señora de la Consolación School hosted a Thanksgiving Eucharist in the school chapel on February 2.

The celebration, presided over by the Bishop of Tortosa, Msgr. Sergi Gordo, gathered around 450 people: sisters, students, families, teachers, alumni, and friends of the Consolation. It was a deeply moving encounter, enlivened by the school choir and culminated with an emotional dance of gratitude by the children.

Our sister Pilar Goterris, general director of the center, shared that "it has been a moment of great joy that has helped us feel, once again, how closely united we are to the people of Benicarló." She also recalled that this community was the last foundation of Saint Maria Rosa Molas, making it especially dear to the entire Congregation.

The Eucharist, celebrated on the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord and the World Day for Consecrated Life, had a very familiar and synodal atmosphere, with the participation of people from the city's parishes and many who feel part of the Consolation family.

Various commemorative events will take place throughout this academic year. Among them, an exhibition on the history and life of the school over these 150 years, featuring photographs, materials, memories, and vintage uniforms, as well as a concert by the Benicarló Symphonic Choir (dates to be confirmed). Additionally, a mural by artist and alumnus Miguel Pruñonosa has already been inaugurated in the school pavilion as a visible sign of this special anniversary.

We thank God for these 150 years of shared history and renew our desire to continue being a presence of comfort, closeness, and hope in Benicarló.
