The participants conclude the Assembly by renewing their commitment to the mission.
On the afternoon of June 23, the General Assembly of the Consolation came to a close, bringing to an end several intense days of prayer, reflection, discernment, and shared work.
The closing session began with the presentation of a synthesis of the challenges that had emerged throughout these eight days of Assembly. Afterwards, the Superior General, Loreto Navarrete, addressed the participants in her closing remarks, expressing gratitude for the interest, participation, and involvement of the sisters, as well as for the preparation of the prayer moments and liturgical celebrations that accompanied the entire assembly process.
As a final gesture, the sisters gathered at the tomb of María Rosa Molas to pray and revisit with her the different stages of vocation, renewing their commitment and missionary sending. This simple yet meaningful moment allowed them to place the fruits of the Assembly in God's hands and renew their dedication to the life and mission of the Congregation.
During one of the final days of the Assembly, the participants had the opportunity to reconnect with the roots of the charism through a pilgrimage to some of the most significant places in the life of María Rosa Molas in the city of Reus.
The morning began with a moment of prayer in the Church of the Blood, from where the sisters were invited to live the journey as true pilgrims in the land of the Mother. The route continued along Hospital Street, with visits to the House of Mercy and to the doorway of the former hospital where María Rosa began her religious life. Later, the participants visited the birthplace of the foundress and concluded the itinerary at Saint Peter’s Priory Church, where she was baptized and where they participated in the Sunday Eucharist.
In addition to these places linked to the Foundress, the participants had the opportunity to discover some of the most emblematic sites of the city of Reus. The visit to the Reus Museum offered an insight into the history and heritage of the city, including the birthplace of Antoni Gaudí and several modernist buildings that form part of Reus’s cultural identity. The pilgrimage was accompanied by Sr. Teresa María, who served as guide, together with Ana Edo.
In the afternoon, the assembly participants visited the elderly sisters at the residence. The encounter, lived in a spirit of closeness and fraternity, allowed for sharing experiences and dialogue about the life of the Congregation. The sisters recalled with emotion the recent papal visit and showed great interest in the progress and fruits of the Assembly.
Before returning to the Mother House, the participants concluded the day with a visit to the Shrine of Our Lady of Mercy, entrusting to Mary the journey already made and the future of the Congregation.
The General Assembly thus concludes a journey of discernment, communion, and hope that renews the sisters’ commitment to the mission, strengthens fraternal bonds, and expresses gratitude for the legacy received from María Rosa Molas, who continues to inspire the life and mission of the Congregation throughout the world today.
