Curiosity, questions, and the desire to find answers are central to learning at Colegio Nuestra Señora de la Consolación in Concepción. From preschool through high school, our students develop research projects that allow them to observe the world around them, formulate questions, seek solutions, and use their knowledge to help others.

Within the framework of the Science Fair proposals, three experiences reflect this way of learning: “Eyes in the sky” , “Small but MISCHIEVOUS!” and “Art for Everyone?” .

Beginner Level | “Eyes in the Sky”

The children of the 5-year-old classrooms “A” and “B”, along with their teachers Claudia Mercedes Díaz and María Valentina Díaz , became little researchers through the project “Eyes in the sky” .

The experience originated during the teaching unit “Little Explorers of Consolation” . While observing the school through Google Maps, the children discovered that satellite images did not allow them to clearly recognize all of its spaces.

Then a question arose that paved the way for the investigation:

"Teacher, how can we see and get to know the school better from above and from the inside?"

From this concern they began to explore different possibilities to know and represent their school from new perspectives, putting into play observation, formulating questions, exploration and collaborative work.

An experience that reminds us that a question born from curiosity can become the beginning of great learning .

Primary Level | “Small but NAUGHTY!”

In 2nd grade “A” and “B”, the students, accompanied by their teachers Noelia Pelegrina and Silvina Bravo , developed the project “Small but Naughty!” .

It all began with the reading of the book "Toto and Pulga Discover a Mystery," which sparked the children's interest in learning more about these small parasitic insects. The scientific investigation grew into an experience of care, solidarity, and commitment .

In collaboration with the Garrapatitas Foundation , the students researched and developed a repellent lotion , seeking to generate a concrete response related to pet care.

The proposal expresses in a special way the motto of our charismatic year: “Returning to the Mother: memory that inspires and charity that transforms” .

Because learning science can also be a way to learn to care for life and put our knowledge at the service of others .

Secondary Level | “Art for All?”

The students of 6th year “B” , together with their teacher Fabián Vernal , develop the project “Art for All?” , an inquiry proposal based on the STEAM format for the Science Fair.

The research stems from a question present in Contemporary Art and Aesthetics classes: how do young people approach contemporary art?

Phrases like "I don't understand it" or "is that Art?" gave rise to a debate that the students decided to take to the rest of the educational community, taking sensitivity and knowledge as fundamental variables.

Talks, workshops, analysis of works and a survey revealed that students approach art primarily through sensitivity, while aspects such as context, author and techniques take a secondary place.

This result opens up new challenges: integrating emotion and knowledge, incorporating the perspectives of artists in the field, adding other areas—such as Philosophy—and moving towards the production of works from a contemporary perspective.

Three projects, one same way of learning

From the perspective of the youngest children to the reflections of young people, these projects have a common point: they are born from authentic questions and turn curiosity into knowledge .

Observing, investigating, creating, caring, questioning, and seeking new answers are experiences that permeate our different educational levels and invite us to continue building a school where learning also means looking at reality with different eyes and discovering that we can transform it .

Because when a question finds space to grow, learning becomes a shared adventure .
