On February 7, 2026, we solemnly celebrated the blessing of the land and the laying of the cornerstone for a new house in Seoul, South Korea.
The Seongbuk-dong community in Korea was established in 1986 with the arrival of the Spanish sisters in the country. In 1992, the convent building in Seongbuk-dong was expanded, thus consolidating its presence and community life. Since then, the community has remained faithful to its mission, responding to the social needs of each era and steadfastly dedicating itself to making God's consolation present in the world, especially among the poor and most vulnerable.
However, after careful consideration of the difficulties arising from the progressive deterioration of the house, as well as other practical and economic circumstances, the decision was made to leave the house in Seongbuk-dong, a place deeply connected to the historical origins of the Congregation's presence in Korea, and relocate the community to a new site.
For this reason, under the grace and blessing of the Lord, the ceremony took place under the presidency of two priests. The sisters of the Congregation in Korea were present together with the members of the Lay Consolation group, representatives of the construction company, and other collaborators on the project, including the architect in charge of the design.
In the presence of Christ, the one and only true Consolation of humanity, may the charism of Consolation be manifested more fully, and we fervently pray that the Lord will guide and protect the entire process until this house, destined to spread Consolation and peace in the world, is fully completed.
