On the afternoon of March 15 , the sisters from Latin America participated in the training webinar entitled “The transformation of conflicts into opportunities” , facilitated by Fr. Yago Abelardo Madueño , Missionary of Africa.
The meeting offered a space for deep reflection on the meaning of conflict in personal and community life, proposing a change of perspective: moving from understanding it as a difficulty to be avoided, to recognizing it as an opportunity for growth, learning and transformation.
Throughout the training, it was emphasized that conflict is not a mistake, but rather a message that reveals unheard realities, hidden needs, and relational dynamics that require attention. From this perspective, participants were encouraged to embrace conflict as a process that, with proper support, can open new paths to encounter and communion.
One of the central themes was the shift from a “narrative of war,” dominated by the logic of victors and vanquished, to a “narrative of evolution,” where diversity is recognized as an asset and an opportunity to build more authentic relationships. In this light, conflict ceases to be a threat and becomes a space where the community can grow in inclusion, listening, and shared responsibility.
Furthermore, the call to exercise contemplative leadership was emphasized—leadership capable of sustaining the tension of conflict without shying away from it, cultivating deep listening, especially to those voices that are often marginalized. It was stressed that authentic transformation begins within each individual, through personal work that enables leadership from a place of awareness and maturity.
The webinar also highlighted the synodal dimension of community processes, understood as spaces where all voices are important and must be welcomed, even those that are uncomfortable. In this sense, it was emphasized that conflict, when handled well, does not destroy the community, but can strengthen it and make it more evangelical.
This training space was experienced as an opportunity to renew the perspective on daily challenges, encouraging the sisters to embrace conflict as part of caring for life, from faith, hope and commitment to more humane and fraternal relationships.
