Laudato Si’: 10 Years Caring for Our Common Home

It’s been 10 years since Pope Francis published Laudato Si, a very special letter addressed to “all people of good will,” inviting us to care together for our planet, the common home of all humanity.

Since its release in 2015, this encyclical has been a true call to the heart. It reminds us that everything is connected: the environment, human life, the economy, culture, and faith. What happens to the Earth also affects people—especially those living in poverty or vulnerability.

Throughout this decade, Laudato Si’ has sown hope and inspired action across the globe. It has motivated young people, communities, schools, parishes, and organizations to change habits, talk about climate change, defend life, and live more simply and lovingly with creation.

The Consolation Family has embraced this message. Faithful to our charism of consoling in the style of Jesus, we have gradually taken up the call of Laudato Si’ as part of our mission. Inspired by the encyclical, we have deepened our commitment to caring for creation and promoting social justice. This is reflected in our daily actions, in how we live in community, in our educational and health projects, and in how we accompany the most vulnerable—listening both to the cry of the Earth and the cry of the poor.

We have also promoted spaces for formation, prayer, and ecological reflection, encouraging others to join the path of ecological conversion.

Ten years later, the message of Laudato Si’ is more relevant than ever. The planet is still suffering, and so are many people. This anniversary is a chance to reflect on the journey, give thanks for the fruits, and ask ourselves: what more can we do? How can we continue to care for our common home and build a more just, humane, and fraternal world?

As the Pope says, “Change begins with us.” May this anniversary renew our desire to live with more love, respect, and commitment to life in all its forms.
