"God walks with His people"
Pope Francis invites us on this Day to unite in prayer for migrants who have had to leave their land in search of dignified living conditions, to accompany them on the way, to be hope and comfort in moments of despair.
Synodality, an essential feature of the Church and of our charism as a Consolation Family, is presented primarily as a “joint journey of the People of God”.
Migrants are the contemporary icon of the people and the Church on that journey towards the true homeland, the Kingdom of Heaven. The Holy Father says: ”Let us take our most vulnerable brothers and sisters by the hand, let us recognize in them the face of Jesus and let us walk part of the way together."
Pope Francis' Prayer for the 110th World Day of Migrants and Refugees 2024
God, the Almighty Father,
we are your pilgrim Church
who walks towards the Kingdom of Heaven.
Each of us lives in his own homeland,
but as if we were foreigners.
Every foreign region is our homeland,
however, every homeland is a foreign land for us.
We live here on earth,
but we have our citizenship in heaven.
Don't let us become masters
from the portion of the world
that you have given us as a temporary home.
Help us to never stop walking
together with our migrant brothers and sisters
towards the eternal abode that you have prepared for us.
Open our eyes and our heart
so that every encounter with the needy
may it also become an encounter with Jesus,
Your son and our Lord.
Amen
